there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.

But there is no other way.

The river can not go back.

​

Nobody can go back.

To go back is impossible in existence.

The river needs to take the risk

of entering the ocean

because only then will fear disappear,

because that’s where the river will know

it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,

but of becoming the ocean.

What is EMDR | Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful evidence-based therapy approach used to heal from trauma and other distressing experiences.

During EMDR sessions, you'll focus on processing negative memories and emotions in a safe and controlled way while using bilateral stimulation, which can involve following a therapist's finger movements with your eyes or alternating butterfly tapping. This bilateral stimulation allows your brain and body to process the memories more effectively, specifically, allowing your

inner healing intelligence to complete its process.

Traumatic experiences can get stuck in our minds and bodies, causing intense emotions, flashbacks and dissociation. EMDR unlocks these fragments, allowing for emotional release and a deeper understanding of the event. With reprocessing, the emotional impact lessens, and the memories are stored properly, giving you a sense of closure and peace.

The benefits of EMDR extend beyond specific traumas and is helpful in supporting various mental health conditions including: Post-traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD), Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, and Attachment Disorders.

EMDR can support the system in rebuilding trust within. Connecting to detached or protective parts and creating a sense of safety to remove barriers or limiting beliefs. As these barriers shift, you can more fully embody your needs and address the areas needing alignment.

This is a great supplemental option to amplify your healing journey.

Faster progress: EMDR intensives dedicate several hours to focused EMDR therapy. This allows you to delve deeper into a specific issue and potentially achieve results more quickly compared to spaced-out weekly sessions. Sometimes with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, the hellos and catching up digs into the time for more intensive work. I like to be mindful of the power of EMDR and allowing you to take the space and time needed to process. Rushing or squeezing it it, is only going to create more dysregulation in the body.

Increased momentum: Intensives provide a continuous momentum in processing memories and emotions. Weekly sessions can sometimes lead to a "restart" feeling each week as you revisit the memory and processing begins. Intensives allow you to stay engaged in the process, building on the momentum gained from each session without losing the thread of what you're working on. Additionally, intensives minimize the distractions and interruptions of daily life that can occur between weekly sessions. This

allows for a deeper dive into the therapy and potentially faster processing.

Ideal for specific situations: Intensives can be ideal for people addressing a recent event like a car accident or a clearly defined trauma they want to focus on intensively. 

 

Reduced overall treatment time: While intensives require a larger upfront time commitment, they can potentially shorten the overall treatment duration compared to weekly sessions. This can save time and money in the long run.

Important Note: Intensives are NOT for everyone: The concentrated nature of EMDR intensives can be emotionally draining. It's crucial for us to discuss if your readiness as well as if your mental, and emotional states can handle the intensity. Ultimately, the choice between one-hour sessions and intensives depends on your specific needs and preferences.
